Spruce Up Your Home With Decorative Plant Stands

by Lee Dobbins

Decorative plant stands can really add unique value to your decor. They are an ideal way to display extra items when you've run out of room on your mantle or shelving is to use a well-made pedestal plant stand.

By putting either an artificial or live plant on a nice plant stand, you enhance its beauty. Silk, artificial plants can be very life like and this allows you to enjoy the benefits of plants without having to care for them as you would a living plant. For support, lift, charm and character, consider a plant stand for your artificial plant.

Regardless of what will go on top of the stand, you need to be careful in your pedestal selection. The stand should primarily enhance the beauty of the plant, not detract or compete with it. Guests will be astounded with not only the beauty of your foliage, but also with the sophistication and aesthetic appeal of your plant stands.

You also need to think about what the stand will be supporting. The plant size should balance out the size of the stand. Using a heavy wrought-iron stand for a little cactus probably isn't the best idea. A heavy plant stand though, would perfectly complement a flowing plant like a fern or ivy.

Color is important too. When choosing flowering plants to put on display, carefully consider the color of the blooms. Complimenting colors or soothing neutral tones should be used in your new plant stand.

Size is something you should think about carefully. The top of the stand must be large enough to fit your plant's container. Your plant pot should be slightly smaller than the top of the plant stand. This will be more aesthetically pleasing as well as stable.

Solid, level floors are necessary for plant stands to remain upright. When looking for a stand, consider the size of the plant it is for as well as the type of flooring in the room it will be placed in. A heavier pedestral may be necessary if you have thick, plush carpets. This base will not cause you any worry on hardwood flooring.

When decorating your home, consider starting with a plant stand, just make sure to make it reflect your own style. These little stands let you express your creative side in a big way.
